Celeste’s Hamentashen

Celeste's Hamentashen Recipe


  • 2/3 c sugar
  • 1 stick of margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 T milk
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • raspberry or any type filling
  • powdered sugar


  1. Blend sugar with 1 stick of margarine (definitely use margarine, not butter), 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 2 T milk; set aside
  2. Combine dry ingredients
  3. Gradually add dry mix to wet mix and blend
  4. Refrigerate dough for 1 hr
  5. Roll out the dough
  6. Make circles out of the dough
  7. Form into a 3-sided cookie
  8. Place ½ tsp of raspberry (any type) filling into the center of the cookie
  9. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment pape
  10. Bake at 350º until the cookies are golden brown
  11. Let cookies cool, then sprinkle with powdered sugar

Recipe Notes

Definitely use margarine, not butter. The dough freezes well!
